I grew up in a Pentecostal church where the things you wrote about were taboo, if not sinful, in a saint's bedroom. It's very liberating for a woman to know, she won't burn in hell for having sex with the lights on or for enjoying sex with her husband.
I liked the way you handled the myth that Christian girls are shy non-participating bed partners. God-fearing woman, know what they want and how to express it. It was refreshing to see a preacher/pastor as human. Sometimes preacher's wives forget that under the collar and suit, he's still a man with sexual needs. I loved the way Serene separated the man from the job.
While a healthy consistent sex life is important to a marriage, it's not the answer to everything. Honest communication is essential. You brought that out in The Middle of the Bed. Serene portrayed how important it is for a woman to learn her husband and be willing and creative in meeting his needs."
